Braze allows us to easily setup, measure and optimize multi channel journeys and campaigns throughout different customer lifecycles.
  • Journey orchestration
  • Campaign content builder
  • Experimentation
  • Analytics - Not all events are passed via API
  • Campaign builder - Difficult to collaborate on the same campaign as it may create conflicting versions
  • Dashboarding - There's no way to build dashboards within Braze
Easy to use canvas journey builder, yet packed with various features which give the user setting up the journey both: (1) control over the audiences and journey flow and (2) ability to concurrently run experiments.

As a real estate company we need to have a steady communication strategy with our clients to ensure that we are reducing churn and maintaining them informed about updates in our products or in their contracts. We do that by structuring our strategy in the Canvas feature on Braze, which ensures that we have a cohesive flow of communications. The tool also provides us with all the data needed, such as results of A/B testing, various rates (opening, spam, clicks, etc).
  • Results reporting
  • Integrated communication
  • A/B testing
  • Overall UI and UX - screens are a bit crowded
  • Improve integration with other tools
  • Increase creative options when structuring each communication design
Braze is very well suited if you need to create a campaign/strategy that relies on multiple channels - email, MMS, push, etc. Also, its A/B testing setup is very intuitive and easy to check its results.
If you have a junior team on your company you might have a hard time with the tool, since I see that the interface is a bit crowded - the learning curve might be slower that you'd imagine.

We use Braze as a source of all our key CRM campaigns across email, SMS, push, and audience sync, as well as utilizing the out-of-the-box preference center to store customer opt-ins. All our customer data is stored in the tool, and we want to continue to build customer journeys through Canvas across our various products.
  • Storage of multiple data points.
  • HTML editing.
  • Canvas flows.
  • User journeys.
  • Omni-channel.
  • Complex segmentation.
  • Data manipulation.
  • Complex queries.
Braze is really well suited to a business or company that wants to utilize the canvas flow capability to build out various customer journeys for its users. Also, the simple-to-use interface is great for all levels of marketers and is accessible to anyone with a basic knowledge of CRM systems.

We utilize Braze for sending all our email campaigns and are looking to branch out into broader messaging channels such as SMS and PUSH. Braze has made our ability to send emails quicker and more effectively without losing touch with our core audiences via the segmentation tool and filtering.
  • Segmentation
  • User Interface
  • Support
  • Volume checking canvas'.
  • Ability to pause and resume canvas w/o losing audience.
  • Certain types of segmentation.
We utilize Braze for both automated and one-off email sends, and that usually works pretty seamlessly. However, if we are mid-way through a canvas send and need to change the rate limit or frequency capping, fairly basic changes you might need to make based on how an email is landing via a user's inbox - you must duplicate and basically restart the canvas from scratch.

We use Braze for all CRM sends, in-app messages, and Canvases. These are used to run our lifecycle conversion and retention campaigns, short-term manual sends, promotional sends/campaigns, subscription conversion and retention sends as well as running A/B tests. This is a major tool for a large chunk of our marketing communications.
  • Canvases are a straightforward way to dynamically target users
  • We have a lot of control over our email templates- especially compared to the last service we used
  • Built-in reporting is fantastic and offers solid insight
  • Braze integration with our consumer-facing App opened up a lot of options for us when running promos
  • Our CRM team does a lot of template tweaking on a regular basis, so they don’t want us to duplicate emails, in particular otherwise they might break. I wish there was an easy way to move over copy from one email template into another with the click of a button.
  • When sending push notifications we always use the same copy for Android and iOS users- it would be nice to have one input for copy instead of copy/pasting content from the Android field into the iOS field
  • The email templates do not allow Grammarly to apply edit suggestions to copy, which is unfortunate because I rely on Grammarly to ensure my copy is written well without error. Currently we have to copy/paste the content into a Google doc to make sure the copy is written well
I think Braze is fantastic in most ways- if a colleague is looking to manage a wide variety of promotions across lifecycle, holiday, retention and conversion campaigns, Braze is a great tool. It is also very customizable and can fit a wide variety of styles that work with your department or company aesthetic. This isn’t as useful if you are trying to make merchandised articles (like in Shopify, for instance) but it can compliment other applications like Shopify quite well.

CRM campaigning through In-App-Messages, Push, Email, and Content Cards. Connected Content, Liquid Coding, and Content Blocks are some of the features that make Braze a fantastic marketing automation tool for our business.
  • Personalization
  • Flexible and advanced targeting
  • Automation
  • Action paths within Canvas flows - specifically within content card messaging
Great for apps, not the best for retail, e-tail, fashion.

We lacked a comprehensive platform to manage Customer engagement with our applications. Braze serves as a means for us to market to customers and allows for an all-in-one solution to keep in contact with them via emails, SMS, and push notifications. This means we can set up campaigns and targets more easily than before.
  • Campaigns
  • Ease of adjusting emails.
  • Push notification management.
  • Integration with mobile platforms for push notifications.
  • Support through things like Discord would be amazing for developer support.
If you need a platform to manage customer's contact information or a solution to manage campaigns so you can target specific customer groups, I think Braze excels at that. Once you get over the technical hurdles, Braze has a fantastic management suite for sorting out campaigns. The fact you can run A/Bs as well is excellent.

We use Braze as our multi-channel marketing tool, sending emails, push notifications & SMS. The tool helps keep all our customer data in one place and easily communicate with these customers. The speed and automation of the tool have helped a small team manage many campaigns and tests.
  • Email marketing.
  • Data ingestion.
  • Push Notifications.
  • Audience management.
  • Advanced filtering to create segments.
  • Analytics - looking at customer-level data to investigate issues.
For real-time data ingestion using SDKs, Braze is second to none. It can collect large amounts of data and use these with hardly any processing time. This makes marketing a dream!

We use Braze to send our CRM messaging. Braze allows us to address the problem of sending the right message to the right customer at the right time and, crucially, on the right channel. The scope is to send timely messaging across our product channels.
  • Easy to user interface.
  • Allows personalization.
  • Send real-time triggered emails.
  • Sometimes hard to dig into the granular details when something has gone wrong.
Well suited to creating customer-relevant marketing campaigns based on actions taken. It is less appropriate for diagnosing issues with sends, e.g., why they have failed to send or if there are errors in the personalization, where these stem from.

We use Braze to house all of our user data and send targeted emails and push notifications using multiple data points to allow for segmentation.
  • User support
  • Ease of implementation
  • Currents and segmentation
  • Better analytics
  • Better understanding of ambiguous data points
  • Quicker results with better accuracy
Braze is great for targeted messaging and housing data from various sources.
Not sure when it would be less appropriate unless someone is looking for a very, very basic CRM platform for email marketing perhaps.

We use Braze to create user journeys and send out B2C and B2B transactional and marketing messages with the goals of increasing acquisition, reactivation, retention, and LTV. We leverage the following channels in Braze: email, push notifications, in-app messages, SMS, and webhooks.
  • Braze provides a great platform to produce multi-channel campaigns and user journeys. Not many marketing service providers include email, push notifications, SMS, in-app messages, content cards, webhooks, audience sync, etc. all in one.
  • Braze has many technology partners and integrations for each.
  • Braze allows for robust, event-level reporting with the Currents tool.
  • Braze features tools for streamlining execution, such as templates and content blocks.
  • Braze allows us to develop sophisticated segmentation and triggering via profile or custom attributes and events.
  • Braze enables personalization and dynamic content population via Liquid code and Connected Content.
  • Braze allows us to build multi-step user journeys.
  • Braze allows for A/B and multivariate testing.
  • Braze gives us great account management and technology support.
  • Braze really listens to their customers and uses feedback to develop their product roadmap and prioritization.
  • It would be great for Braze to have a feature that renders an exact message sent to a user in the past.
  • It would be great if Braze a better way to pass user profile attributes and change logs to internal company databases.
  • Braze's online documentation is very helpful more often than not, but improvements could be made.
Braze is a great tool for producing multi-channel, multi-step user journeys that involve email, push notifications, SMS, in-app messages, content cards, webhooks, audience sync, etc.

Braze allows for all Marketing to be done in the same place using many touch points, including Email, SMS, Push, and in app Content Cards & Newsfeeds. The Canvases and Campaigns available will allow any user to create the right path for every type of customer. The segmenting feature is critical in pinpointing the ideal customer to receive the correct Marketing content. The Braze Learning and Documentation in Resources is crucial to supporting the creation of campaigns and troubleshooting issues. Lastly, the speed of Braze Support response after ticket submission allows the team to quickly resolve issues so we never miss an opportunity to engage with our customers.
  • Braze positions itself to ingest all pertinent customer data (attributes, demographics, etc.) that is then easily accessible to be used to target customer segments
  • By having all customer data in a centralized place, it allows for quick campaign and canvas setup
  • The metrics and statistics readily available for all customer communications make identifying issues quick.
  • The Canvas view made adjusting the many steps in a canvas slightly complicated. Thankfully, Braze has now migrated over to Canvas Flow tool, which simplifies the entire Canvas creation process.
Braze is top notch for creating custom paths for customers that keep them engaged throughout their journey with the product or company. The product provides ways to exit the customer when necessary and ways to re-engage after periods of inactivity. Allowing the addition of custom events and attributes provides individualizes the customer journey further.

We use Braze for all consumer communications. This includes but is not limited to Email, Push Notifications, SMS, and In-App Messages. Braze gives us the tools to communicate with users throughout their lifecycle with our app/service. We have communication flows for new user and member onboarding, win backs, transactional, and more. We also have the ability to send out ad-hoc messages to achieve different goals. All of this has allowed us to increase retention, conversions, LTV, along with leading our users to be more knowledgeable with our product.
  • Community Building - Braze has an amazing community that empowers users to help each other, and also helps with career advancement
  • Intelligent Suite - Braze has amazing algorithms that you can use to target your user-base with either the timing or channel that they are most likely to engage with.
  • Canvas Flow - Canvas Flow is a tool from Braze that allows you to build out personalized communication journeys. You can branch out based on user-behavior, timing, and much much more.
  • Feedback - Braze is obsessed with feedback and learning what their users need/want. I love playing around with their suite of tools and coming back with feedback because I know they will consider my suggestions/feedback.
  • Documentation - Some documentation can be outdated when trying to implement/ use tools for the first time. This can be easily avoided by joining their community groups and asking around.
  • Implementation - Implementation of Braze can be hectic if your teams are not on the same page. Make sure you have employees dedicated to implementing and using Braze as there can be a lot to it. I feel like Braze could also be more supportive during onboarding.
  • Tech Assistance - I wish there was more tech assistance with Braze. Currently, you have to submit tickets or ask around the community. We've had instances where we wish we could just hop on a quick call with the tech team at Braze instead of submitting tickets and having an email thread.
  • Flows Between Environments - We test all of our communication flows in our staging environment before we push into our production environment. Unfortunately, you have to manually copy over all the steps, creative, etc from environments. I wish they had some sort of copy/paste or promote/demote feature to easily move flows from staging to production or production to staging.
Braze is the best for any user communications. It is the best CRM tool on the market. From their actual product to their community, there is nothing better. If you need to send out messaging to app users, website users, or any consumer messaging, Braze has the best options and product.

From my experience, Braze focuses more on Business to Consumer rather than Business to Business.

Needed a tool that can send push notifications to our clients. Not only is this function one of Braze's strong points its UI is the easiest we've used. Our marketers were able to learn and deploy push notifications quickly and accurately. In addition, to push notifications, we also leverage the in-app messaging feature within Braze. Which has been very helpful because many of our app downloaders do not initially turn push notifications on immediately. We used in-app messaging to nudge our users to sign up for push notifications and helped grow our push subscribers tremendously.
  • Push.
  • In-App Messaging.
  • Customer Journey.
  • Creating Segments.
Many of our app downloaders do not initially turn push notifications on. We used the in-app messaging to nudge our users to sign up for push notifications and helped grow our push subscribers tremendously. The campaign creation process is relatively straightforward and easy to pick up. The Customer journey interface allows me and my team to set up dynamic audiences and personalize journeys quickly with their drag and drop interface. I am able to create a customer journey that includes Push, In-app Messaging, and even email all in one simple to use tool!

[It's being used for] All marketing communications across email, push, in-app messages, and SMS texts.

It is being used by the marketing department. It allows us to target retention, education, up-sell opportunities, and compliance communications.
  • Personalized customer journey
  • Consolidation of marketing tools to bring multi channel communications under one roof and allowing each of them to talk to each other.
  • The Braze community. This not only helps with idea generation, but makes a great place to network and grow your team.
  • The Customer Success team is world class. They reply to anything and everything we send them promptly and with actual answers.
  • Mobile experience for the Braze dashboard
  • Simplification of liquid logic for non-technical users
  • Improvement to reporting metrics with detailed graphs. Creating something in the dashboard would save us the resources spent on hiring analytics managers and piping the data to Tableau.
The Braze product is honestly best in class when it comes to creating a personalized experience for your users. The area that really sets them apart is the team that comes with it. I've never received the level of direct support from any other company like I have with this team. Having access to customer success managers and access to other marketers within the Braze community has made the difference when building out and scaling my team as well.

I currently use Braze to implement both in-app campaigns as well as email campaigns to welcome them to the product if they use our product for the first time, provide additional assets and resources, promote new features or capability announcement, and nudge users to move through to the next steps within the product, or 5) remind them that their service is being deleted. I believe the majority of the organization is using Braze or at least pushing to use throughout various business units.
  • Braze is integrated with segment and is also integrated with amplitude so that you can track user data across multiple platforms.
  • The more granular your product instrumentations are done, the more effective your Braze campaigns can be in terms of targeting a specific user group in specific areas within the user experience.
  • Braze works well with large companies by providing support and dedicated teams in terms of debugging issues or helping with implementation.
  • If you do not have a solid understanding of your product instrumentation and Braze, it will be difficult to be effective with it initially.
  • You need to spend some time learning about the platform as some aspects are not self-explanatory so you need to rely on other documentation or guidelines they have (i.e. how to find your instrumentations - need to find it by adding quotations marks, etc).
Braze is great if you want to nudge users to move through your product milestones that you set for your product and understand their progress. Braze also has a section where you can define what conversion you want to see which is very helpful to see how effective your campaign actually was once launched.

The CRM team is using Braze to communicate with all of our audiences through multiple app groups using email, IAMs, push, SMS, and webhooks. Braze has enabled our CRM team to build and test robust, personalized, real-time user journeys without ongoing support from product/engineering.
  • Usability - If you are experienced with ESPs, Braze is simple and straightforward to learn after an initial exploration into the tool.
  • Tooling, Products, and Features - Braze is a robust tool that enables my team to build complex lifecycle marketing programs without needing support from product/engineering. We can easily target users with email, push notifications, in-app messages, webhooks, SMS, and more all in one place.
  • If there is ever a product that is missing/could be improved, the Braze team will listen to our needs and incorporate suggestions into their product roadmap.
  • Customer Service - The Customer Success team is so responsive and helpful - some of the best I've ever worked with. They will provide suggestions, feedback, workarounds (if needed), and recommendations to improve your efficiency and strategy. I'd highly recommend a CSM as well.
  • Better reporting and analytics built within Braze. We do a lot of exporting of data to outside tools for analysis.
  • UI improvements such as foldering/organizational structure instead of just a tagging system.
  • Load times for canvases that are very complex (though I've been told this improvement is coming soon).
If you use an omnichannel marketing approach across digital products and want to reach your users with real-time, personalized messages (email, in-app, push, SMS, webhooks, etc) then Braze is suited for you. If you're just doing straightforward email marketing without much testing or personalization, you can probably find cheaper products that fit your needs.

We are using Braze across a large portfolio of digital products. We have Segment instrumented data flowing into Braze to nurture users through in-app and email campaigns. We've been able to drive digital user engagement, paid conversion, adoption, and retention through these campaigns. We also have Braze events flowing into Amplitude to analyze campaign success.
  • Seamless integration with other growth tools (Segment and Amplitude)
  • Intuitive, easy to use UI
  • Strong support team with quick and helpful follow-up
  • Search function can be very particular
  • Needs more advanced audience segmentation capabilities (namely the ability to target audiences with multiple event properties tied back to events)
Simple in-app campaigns work well in Braze, but the in-app canvas feature is not quite there yet (from a large enterprise perspective, as we need these in-app messages to be tied to specific apps/products).

We have been using Braze over the last several years for our email marketing and retention efforts. We use the platform to build, send and evaluate the performance of millions of emails every day. It provides us with a platform to build and manage customer audiences and messages with personalized content. We're now in the process of expanding our use of the Braze tools and services to expand our retention efforts around mobile push and in-app messaging.
  • The Braze services and support team has been a true partner for our business. They have been proactive in helping us to solve our business problems.
  • The Braze platform provides easy to use tools for building audiences and messaging that allow a small team to be highly effective.
  • The Braze approach to dynamic content has worked very well for our needs. It has provided use with an intuitive and performant approach to email personalization even as well scaled up to millions of personalized messages per day.
  • Moving data into and out of the platform can be a challenge, given our scale. The Braze Currents offering has helped, at least in terms of getting engagement data back out of Braze and into our data warehouse.
Braze provide a modern platform for email and mobile marketing. It integrates well with APIs for dynamic content creation and they provide a broad set of tools to allow for integrated messaging across email, mobile push, and in-app.

We use Braze across most of our departments (Growth, Product, Ad Sales) to send out all of our marketing campaigns. By using in-app messaging, we are able to reach our user base whether it's to notify them of a new feature or to sell a premium membership. We have used another platform previously and find that Braze is much easier to use.
  • Diverse options to send out messaging including full-screen interstitials, sliders, modals, and news feed cards.
  • Segmenting users is easy to do.
  • Excellent customer success team and fast and helpful support.
  • Unable to edit conversion event once the campaign is launched.

Braze delivers great value to the company when it comes to defining granularly targeted audiences based on user behavioral data tracked in Segment for nurturing users with in-browser pop-up message campaigns and email campaigns. In addition to the Segment integration, Braze does a good job with Amplitude integration as well for a deeper dive into the Braze interaction data alongside the every day data the company is tracking on digital clients. We leverage Braze across product teams with a digital offering experience (both hybrid cloud & on-prem), as well as beginning to scale out across geographies and markets for more granular campaigning.
  • Braze support team continues to demonstrate strong expertise and prompt follow-ups on our technical inquiries and debugging assistance as incidents arise.
  • Braze offers a great variation of integrations with tools such as Segment and Amplitude to digest all the data companies are currently tracking on digital clients and analyze those data points in a common environment alongside all Braze interaction events.
  • Braze offers great flexibility in targeting and delivery criteria for campaigns, as well as sets a good standard in thinking about conversion events / success factors for campaigns.
  • The target users tab in Braze does not provide optimal granularity in identifying targeted audiences. The way our company tracks data on users requires us to target audiences with multiple event properties tied back to events.
  • The canvas in-app feature Braze offers does not allow for delivery in specific apps. For a company such as IBM that offers a variety of products and services implemented with Braze, this feature does not serve value and cannot be used.
  • Braze offers A/B testing with multiple variables but they don't expose the variant IDs in the UI of the braze campaign analytics dashboard. This prevents us from easily analyzing the variants of campaign in Amplitude.
  • Great for nudging users to gain a more valuable experience in the UI of the product with in-app messages.
  • Great for preventing churn with emails.
  • Great for experimenting and A/B testing content in nurture campaigns.
  • Great for targeting users effectively based on Segment instrumented data.
  • Great for analyzing data in Amplitude post campaign launch to see interaction data alongside segment data.

Braze is being used by product and marketing teams in a variety of departments and business units.
We are using Braze for nurturing the user along the journey of using our offerings to proficiency and driving them to convert to higher revenue plans, ensuring those who provision trial versions of our offerings get value during the trial period to drive upgrade to paid versions, and to drive those who show interest in our trial offerings to sign up for a trial.
We are seeing (1) increased business results and (2) improvement in our offering/marketing team skills at designing more effective nurture. Braze requires them to know what their use case is and the data needed to support it before crafting, so they are getting more data-driven and focused in their nurture planning.
  • Braze takes advantage of data to drive behaviorally-based nurture. It is more effective than other nurture tactics in driving results, based on windows of time from a purchase or trial registration, because of the context behavioral nurture provides. Therefore, if your organization has strong instrumentation to support your nurture use cases, Braze will prove to be a powerful tool to increase business results.
  • I find their support helpful, responsive, and open to discussions when their experience may not map to the needs of an enterprise the size of ours.
  • Some of the features and limitations are due to, probably, a lack of experience working with large enterprises.
  • Our company has hundreds of offerings, each wanting to nurture their users, and so the data involved is large, making search functions difficult unless you have a very specific character string for things like events.
  • Our data can require more than one event property to best describe the behavior, and the current limitation is for 1 property.
  • That being said, Braze is very open to discussing our needs and talking to their developers about the opportunity and impact of our needs on the product.
Some use cases are casting a wide net when it comes to targeting an audience. Braze's power comes from focused targeting, and targeting based on data about behavior. Some of our folks want to nurture an audience that is very broad and not very definable, i.e. "someone who has tried any one of our 100's of products." That is not Braze's strength in the way we have implemented it.

I am a demand gen marketer using Braze to nurture marketing prospects exclusively through in-app messages, as we use a proprietary marketing automation tool to send emails.
  • Braze is good at managing multiple campaigns simultaneously. It is easy to draft, start, stop, modify, restart, and archive campaigns — the interface is attractive, and the campaign creation/management process is pretty intuitive.
  • Targeting options are very sophisticated. Braze uses both event and analytics data from our offerings to let us choose the exact cohort we want to hit. Delivery triggers are similar, but depending on the instrumentation of the offering our delivery timing may not be optimal (we rarely get this right on the first pass.)
  • One limitation is that once campaigns are launched, Braze does not allow changing conversion events. They do this to maintain data integrity, but in many of our use cases, this does not make sense. However, it is still fairly simple to copy the campaign and then change the conversion event and relaunch. This does mean that we have to sum data to fully see results.
Braze is useful in scenarios where the business use case is well defined and instrumentation is in the maturity/complete stage. Overall Braze has a lot of functionality, and can serve as a one-stop-shop for marketing automation. But because I work for a large company, we have yet to fully adopt Braze, as we have other tools that are better integrated with our existing systems and processes.

Appboy powers our push notifications. It is used by both the mobile app team for open rate analysis, but is primarily supported by the editorial team, who curate the messages sent to our users.
  • Push notifications - allows for flexibility in message and content.
  • Custom event reporting - set events in the app code that triggers when certain criteria is met.
  • Segmentation - using user behavior to better target messaging based on what they engage with in-app.
  • Optimization - provide suggestions for messaging based on experience of past campaigns.
  • Allow for greater flexibility in segmentation dimensions.
  • Reduce latency in reporting - real time or concurrent user data would be useful.
Appboy provides the most value in allowing multiple teams with different goals and technical experience to collaborate with one product. The editorial team is comfortable creating our messaging, while another team can seamlessly dive into the data and create segments of the users who will be seeing the targeted message. After a campaign is complete, it is easy to look back through the performance and make adjustments for future messaging.
